10 Worst Friends Characters Who Appeared After Season 1
1. Emily Waltham
Picture the scene: one of your best friends is on the phone with his estranged wife. He asks her "Do you trust me?". She pauses, then replies "No", effectively ending their marriage. Do you:
a) Commiserate with your friend?
b) Leap off the sofa, fists held aloft in ecstatic glee, and shout "YES!"
In normal circumstances, only a sociopath would choose b), but in the case of Ross & Emily, the latter was so unlikeable that anyone actually grieving the end of their marriage would be seen as a lunatic.
Emily was the best written of all Friends' villains. Her determination to permanently separate Ross & Rachel came from an understandable place (saying someone else's name at the wedding will do that), but as she grew more and more vindictive & controlling it became impossible to sympathise with her. As a result, when she called off the marriage and let Ross off the hook, Friends' fans felt nothing but elation over Ross' lucky escape.
Emily Waltham's surface sweetness belied the domineering control freak within, and she fully deserves the dubious honour of topping this list.
