10 Worst Friends Characters Who Appeared After Season 1
2. Janine LeCroix
The road leading from "model" to "actress" is a perilous one. For every Gal Gadot who successfully makes the journey, there's a Cara Delevigne or Rosie-Huntington Whitely whose acting ambitions get mangled on the highway.
Elle Macpherson, unfortunately, fell into the latter category.
After spending the '90s appearing in a handful of terrible movies (Batman & Robin, anyone?), Elle landed a guest spot on Friends as Janine Lecroix, a dancer Joey invites to be his new room-mate after Chandler leaves. Unfortunately, Elle's big break resulted in one of Friends' most infamous characters.
Janine Lecroix was the Friends' equivalent of trying to make "fetch" happen - it was never going to work. Despite being given a five-episode block to strut her stuff, a combination of flat writing and Macpherson's wooden performance meant Janine lacked the vital spark necessary for the audience to latch on to her.
As a result, when Janine's personality did a complete 180 in her final episode - going from sweet and bubbly to selfish and b**tchy - few people cared about the sudden character shift. They were just glad that the Janine experiment was over, and we could get back to watching the characters we actually cared about.
