11 TV Characters Killed Off Far Too Soon
2. Sunday - Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Like Teen Wolf's Donovan, sassy vampire Sunday is a perfect example of a minor character full of potential. Played with cruel delight by Katherine Towne, Sunday appears in only one episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer - the Season Four premiere, "The Freshman."
Instantly proving to be a worthy opponent to Buffy, who she actually defeats in their first encounter, Sunday is a blast to watch. She's funny, mean, cold and intelligent. However, the episode ends with Buffy killing her without really trying, and whilst this is a brilliant way of showing that the Slayer was just a touch rusty during their last meeting, it still seems as though Sunday had a lot to offer.
Her death is more ill-timed, looking back, by the fact that the rest of Season Four was mostly a lackluster affair. It still has fun moments, great episodes and emotional heft, but it's safe to say that Sunday would have made a better villain than Adam, Forrest, or Professor Walsh. A wealth of narrative possibilities, dusted before they could be realised.
