12 Actors You Didn't Know Were Almost Cast In Star Trek

2. Benicio Del Toro

Benicio Del Toro was another Abrams casting wish. This time it was for Star Trek II: The Wrath… sorry. Star Trek Into Darkness. Del Toro was going to play the role of, um, what was that guy’s name?

Oh yeah.

KHAAAAAAAN!

That's not the only infamous villain that Del Toro missed out on, though. You probably remember that Del Toro appeared in Rian Johnson's The Last Jedi as DJ. Or, Don't Join.

Is that really supposed to be his name? Don't Join? Because that makes absolutely zero sense.

Anyway, this was not the first run in that Del Toro had with the Star Wars galaxy.

Way back in the late 90s, George Lucas, reportedly, cast Del Toro in The Phantom Menace. And, Del Toro was set to play none other than the Sith Warrior Darth Maul.

Supposedly, Del Toro dropped out of the role when he realized Maul had almost no dialogue in the film
