12 British Comedy Shows You Absolutely Had To Watch In The '90s

5. Shooting Stars

Another Vic and Bob project and this time they created havoc under the guise of a celebrity panel quiz with team captains Mark '50s Throwback' Lamarr and Ulrika Jonnson. Matt Lucas, dressed as giant drum-playing baby George Dawes, failed to keep score. This was no ordinary quiz and that's why it was religiously watched by existing Reeves and Mortimer fans as well as the previously uninitiated. Rules were made and broken as frequently as the hosts and guests broke down into helpless laughter; random challenges and the pillory of the celebrities taking part were the real point of the game (think about its title for a few seconds). The added attractions were 'very poor' jokes, slurred 'club style' singing and Vic gurning while rubbing his thighs when he was distracted by an attractive female guest (a much emulated move that was to haunt women for years to come). Classic moment: Panellist Larry Hagman looking like he'd wandered into the Mad Hatter's Tea Party.
