12 Hilariously Bad Attempts To Reboot Classic TV Shows

4. Bionic Woman

The 2007 version of the Bionic Woman was a re-imagining of the original series which itself was adapted from The Six Million Dollar Man which was adapted from the novel Cyborg by Martin Caidin. Surely at this level of repetition it should be clear that there is nothing good that can come from yet another version of the same story? Undeterred, NBC pushed ahead with the series. The story follows Jaime Sommers, who receives a lifesaving experimental operation that gives her great powers through her bionic prosthetics. The critical reception was not good, suggesting that the lead role held by Michelle Ryan had been miscast and that Katee Sackhoff would have been a better choice for the lead role as she was more likeable, despite playing the villain. The other large criticism involved the show's preference for action and special effects which took away the charm of the camp original. In 2008 the original Bionic Woman, Lindsay Wagner, told The Geek Files her thoughts on the remake; 'We were about character and story - the action and effects and violence were the salt and pepper; but for the new series they were the main course. So it's nothing like what we were doing.' After eight episodes the production of the show's first series was delayed by the 2007-8 Writer's strike and was quietly dropped.
