12 Mega Movie Stars Appearing In Essential 2014 TV Shows
8. Karl Urban - Almost Human
You know him from: Star Trek (2009), Dredd (2012) LOTR: The Two Towers (2002) New Zealand native Karl Urban appeared back in the day on internationally syndicated American TV series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys (1995) and its popular spin-off Xena: Warrior Princess (1995) which were both filmed in his home country. Keeping it local, Urban struck gold in Peter Jackson's monstrously successful Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001, 2002, 2003), appearing in the second and third installments as Rohirrim horseman omer. He is perhaps even more famous nowadays for his recent role as sarcastic chief medical officer Bones in J. J. Abrams reboot of the Star Trek franchise. You can see Urban on TV at the moment, teaming up again with executive producer J. J. Abrams in Fox's sci-fi/crime drama Almost Human. Urban plays L.A.P.D. Detective John Kennex on the show; set in 2048, where police are paired with robotic (literally and figuratively) partners in order to combat threats in a world where technology is spiraling out of control. Kennex doesn't play nice with his mechanical counterparts, and is forced to pair with the more "soulful" model Dorian, played by Michael Ealy. The 13-episode first season concluded last week, so if you haven't been watching then I'm afraid you've missed the original run, however if you happen to catch it on re-runs or online and you're a fan of Urban, then it's definitely worth checking out.
