12. The Lannisters Game of Thrones
I guess we should be grateful that the creators of Game of Thrones showed us exactly what kind of monsters we were dealing with when Jaime Lannister threw the ten-year-old Bran Stark from a tower window, for witnessing him in the throes of incest with his twin sister before the first episode finished airing. Even under those circumstances, it's doubtful anyone could've predicted the egregious acts of sheer villainy this family would go on to commit since then. Where do I begin with this lot? Besides being a willing participant in infanticide, Jaime 'Kingslayer' Lannister is an arrogant stab-first-ask-questions-later jackass who would sell you out in five seconds flat if it would benefit him in the remotest way and flies headlong into battle without any regard for the lives of the soldiers he commands. The fact that Cersei would have sex and bear children with him her brother I hasten to add, again out of some twisted Freudian desire to be as powerful and respected as the man himself probably tells you all you need to know about her character. When she's not being a manipulative, vindictive trollop, Cersei is blinded by her own conceitedness, too full of her own self-importance to see that the reason no one of authority pays her any attention is because she's not nearly as smart as she thinks she is and gets outwitted by anyone who tries. Put these two personalities together and the result is Joffrey Baratheon, whose cruel and sadistic acts speak for themselves. Needless to say, there's a reason why that video of Tyrion slapping him on a loop remains popular. Oh, all right then, I'll stick it here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYNeT2nzEgA Naturally it would do a disservice to leave out Tywin, who is in some way responsible for the majority of the debauchery that occurs in GoT. If his 'lead from behind' attitude isn't enough to make you hate him, his being the head of the most messed-up family in all the Seven Kingdoms and his utterly despicable treatment of Tyrion ought to do it. Tyrion on the other hand, is the only character bearing the Lannister name to act with any sort of decency and has almost single-handedly prevented them from losing the fight for the Iron Throne. At this point however, I'd have no qualms sacrificing him if it meant we could be rid of his dastardly brood at the same time. Yeah, you heard. When all's said and done, there isn't a punishment or enough Lannister gold that would repay the suffering they've brought on their victims, but if we let Arya Stark have just five minutes alone with Joffrey all will be right with the world.
