Over the course of six seasons, 76 episodes, and a LOT of shaking your head in disbelief at just how low BoJack Horseman can sink as a person, the titular horse proved to be one of the most hated characters in the entire show. And rightly so.

The list of heinous things he has done to people over the years is far too long to list here, though he even had the gall to tell Diane that no one suffered because of his actions more than himself. He was responsible for a young woman’s death, yet he still played the victim card.

That being said however, his life was never easy. Right from the very beginning, BoJack Horseman would be forced onto a path in life that would make it impossible to become a well-functioning member of society, and things carried on throughout his years.

Yes, much of what BoJack did were his own actions, that no one else is responsible for, but there were also times that he was dealt an impossible hand. It often seemed like the whole world was against him, and even without his own self-sabotage, BoJack was the victim of some pretty horrible things himself.

12. The BoJack Horseman Show

Back in the 90s, he was in a very famous TV show. After 'Horsin’ Around', BoJack was more than happy living off that reputation, and lazing around Hollywood enjoying the life while never actually having to put any more work in. Princess Carolyn had other ideas however, as her aspirations to become an agent resulted in a determination to get BoJack more work.

This came in the form of 'Mitch’s Life' by Cuddlywhiskers. The two met, and agreed to make an edgy TV show, completely different to the generic nonsense pumped out to appeal to Middle America. When the network execs had no notes on the pilot table read however, BoJack and Cuddlywhiskers felt they played it too safe, and retreated to the latter’s home to "stick their dicks in the script".

And thus, 'The BoJack Horseman Show' was born, one of the biggest professional mistakes BoJack ever made. To make sure people knew this wasn’t another 'Horsin’ Around', the very first scene was BoJack taking a dump on a 'Horsin’ Around' VHS tape. Emily was about the only person who used to love the show, and even that was only because she could laugh at how bad it was.

BoJack was now no longer just the horse from 'Horsin’ Around'. The only problem is that everyone loved the horse from 'Horsin’ Around'. Would he have continued being happy in Hollywood had he never took that meeting with Cuddlywhiskers?
