12 Worst TV Shows Of 2018
5. Sweetbitter
What would a list of awful TV shows be without at least one offering from Starz? Adapted from Stephanie Danler's 2016 novel, Sweetbitter is at least consistent with the mixed reviews the book received upon release, similarly serving up a high-calorie, low-interest "new girl in town" drama propped up only by Ella Purnell's solid lead performance.
She's forced to rip through some toe-curlingly awful faux-poetic dialogue on regular occasion, though. This is a show where characters drone on excessively about what they're feeling rather than just - gasp - letting the audience work it out for themselves.
Though the six-episode series is sensibly doled out in snappy half-hour instalments, there are so many better things you could do with an afternoon than binge this.
A listless, dull attempt to dress-up youthful naivete as transformative, Sweetbitter sure doesn't go down easy.
Despite barely surpassing 200,000 viewers in its first season, Starz did in fact decide to greenlight a second go-around. Oof.
