13 Best Original Characters In Star Wars: The Clone Wars
5. Savage Opress
Savage Opress could quite easily have been a one-note villain created to remind old fans of how cool Darth Maul was. But even after the fallen Sith lord makes his return, Savage proves to be much more than a cheap revival of the films. Instead, he is very much his own character. He is formidable, intimidating, and looks cooler than nearly everyone else on the show.
His voice, provided by the powerful Clancy Brown is deep and menacing, and watching his power grow as he hunts for and then with Maul is brilliant TV. Having him kill two Jedi in his first appearance certainly helped give audiences a clear indication of what was to come.
Despite his clear evil intentions, dark appearance and blood-curdling voice, however, Savage is also an oddly tragic figure, living under his brother's shadow and trying desperately to prove himself. First, to his old master, Ventress, then to Count Dooku, and finally to his own brother.
His death at the hands of Darth Sidious is one of the show's best fights, and his fate is sad enough to make everyone feel for the big guy.
