13 Best TV Moments Of 2016 (So Far)

2. The Entirety Of The Winds Of Winter - Game Of Thrones

Ok, so if I had to pick just one moment from the Game of Thrones Season 6 finale, I guess it would be Sam's arrival in Citadel, which was gripping and the payoff of a hugely entertaining storyline that had ran throughout the year...

Alright, Sam's story was the weak-link in an otherwise blistering Game of Thrones episode, which stands not just as the best of Season 6, but one of the very best of all time.

I tried picking a favourite moment from this episode, but it's near impossible. You have that stunning opening sequence, with some of the best music to ever feature on the show, which builds and builds to the dramatic, visually spectacular wildfire explosion, and is then topped off by Tommen jumping out of a window.

Then there's Arya, finally returning to Westeros and delivering sweet revenge to Walder Frey, first by baking some delicious Frey Pies, and then slitting his throat as revenge for the Red Wedding. But what about Jon being declared King in the North, in a rousing scene that it's difficult not to shout along with? Speaking of which, there's also the confirmation that Rhaegar + Lyanna = Jon, a beautiful scene that brings into canon A Song of Ice and Fire's biggest ever fan theory. Capping off the episode is Daenerys sailing for Westeros with three huge dragons, the culmination of her entire arc on the show, and something long joked would never actually happen.

There's constant payoff, and it all works well in context and as hugely exciting scenes in their own right. It doesn't seem fair to pick just one. Sorry Sam.
