13 CW Actors Who Deserve An Emmy Nomination

6. David Harewood - Supergirl

Jon Cryer Supergirl
The CW

David Harewood has given some fine performances throughout his esteemed career.

It was only a few years ago that he appeared in the critically-acclaimed The Night Manager which generated a lot of awards buzz, and what's even more impressive is that he did that at the same time as appearing on Supergirl - a role which he is still portraying now.

Harewood's turn as J'onn J'onzz has bore a lot of fruit in the past, given that the character is the last-known survivor of his planet, but it's also had its drawbacks. Being in charge of the D.E.O., J'onn has constantly played the mentor role and, as a result, he's often ended up assisting other characters while not receiving as much attention himself - which has robbed the actor of the chance to shine on more than one occasion.

That, however, changed this season when J'onn left his old life behind to set up his own business. This, in turn, provided Harewood with some really compelling material to work with.

Turning in performances that ranged from calm and reserved to enraged and impassioned, he was consistently effective in highlighting the duality of J'onn's identity as the character struggled with who (or what) he had become. No performance, however, was more powerful than the one he delivered when J'onn finally realised that he was no longer a man of peace.

"I'm the Martian Manhunter!" he belted out like his life depended on it.

Yes Mr. Harewood, yes you most certainly are.
