Suffice to say, it's one that was so almighty that it quite literally ripped the stratosphere of the Doctor Who community apart. The Master has returned countless times before, of course. In fact, he's (almost) as persistent as the Daleks in his attempts at world domination and his reintroduction to the show's mythology back in 2007 was mentioned earlier on this list, so what was it about this particular comeback that managed to create such a stir? This time, the Master was a woman. Viewers had seen tantalising snippets of Missy's mysterious character throughout the course of Series 8 but it wasn't until its climactic finale that her true identity was finally revealed. And what a devilishly riveting reveal it was! The Twelfth Doctor's face said it all when she dropped the almighty bombshell that she was the latest incarnate of his arch nemesis and it was quite literally the mother (or should that be Master?) of all cliffhangers. Fans - even the ones who had guessed it - were left reeling by the revelation and it proved that, even after 51 years, Doctor Who still possesses the power to shock us. Best of all, the whole thing was unequivocally "bananas".
