13 Inspirational Quotes From Each Incarnation Of Doctor Who

5. The War Doctor

"Great men are forged in fire. It is the privilege of lesser men to light the flame." - The Day Of The Doctor
While the War Doctor's on screen time is short, he manages to cram a great deal of Time Lordy moments into 'The Day of the Doctor'. A man worn down by the trauma he has to endure, the War Doctor is stoic, serious and embittered. This incarnation of our favourite Time Lord even refuses to use the name 'The Doctor' due to the horrible deeds he must commit in order to end the Time War. While discussing his refusal to use his chosen title with the Moment, the War Doctor utters this gem of a line. For once viewers see the Doctor being truly self-deprecating. The incredible thing is that, while the War Doctor sees himself as a 'lesser man', he is still the one man who could choose to do the only thing to put a stop to the endless suffering his people were having to endure. Slightly depressing, yes. But this is also inspirational due to the fact that, in spite of all his suffering, heart-ache, and sadness, the War Doctor still manages to do the utterly unthinkable. Fans may not yet have cited the War Doctor during an inspirational moment, but when you really thinks about it, it makes a lot of sense...
