13 Reasons Why Review: 10 Ups & 9 Downs From ALL 4 Seasons
4. The Surprising Friendships
Another great thing about all of the subsequent seasons of 13 Reasons Why was the interesting dynamics that formed - and ultimately blossomed - between characters that you just wouldn't have expected it from in the first season.
While friendships like the one between Clay and Tony were always there, guiding the show from the beginning, it was the surprising relationships that really flourished as things went on. Relationships like the one between Alex and Zach - which went a long way in helping the former on his road to recovery and ultimately allowed the writers to prove that there was more to Zach than the one-dimensional jock he wanted people to see.
That, along with the brotherhood that formed between Clay and Justin - two characters who could barely tolerate each other in the first season - ended up providing Seasons 2, 3 and 4 with some of their richest moments - ultimately proving there was at least some of the original story left to tell (because not everyone got the chance to shine in the beginning).
