Although we were initially introduced to Nora Walker last year, the character truly came into her own this season.

Portrayed by veteran performer Brenda Strong, Bryce's battleaxe mother took it upon herself to figure out who killed her son and would stop at nothing to put the perpetrator behind bars. While that was more than enough juicy material to make up for the rather cardboard role she played last season, it was the flashbacks that allowed us to see just how deep Nora truly was.

Through the introduction of her father and the return of her son (and an expertly-executed counselling session with Mr. Porter), Nora's backstory was explored more than most ever expected it to be and, in spite of so much working against her, she remained strong and powered through it - coming out of the season as one its most surprisingly well-developed characters. And her repaired relationship with Bryce was effective as it ensured that we, as viewers, hurt for her after he was gone.
