13 Reasons Why Season 4: 7 Big Questions We Need Answers To
4. Will Winston Speak Up?
In their desperate bid to protect Alex, the show's core group of teenagers banded together to frame the already-imprisoned-Montgomery De La Cruz for the murder of Bryce Walker. Given their cohesive accounts, the fact that Monty was dead, and Deputy Standall's bid to protect his son, the story stuck and Monty was declared Bryce's murderer. Thus, nobody went to jail.
While the case is very much closed, it doesn't change the fact that there is one very loose end - and that is Winston Williams.
The secret lover of Monty, Winston initially found himself on the wrong end of a vicious assault as the hot-headed Liberty High student struggled with his sexuality, but after the latter apologised for his actions, the pair had an intimate reconciliation as they made love on the night that Bryce was murdered.
Winston knows Monty didn't kill Bryce, and his brief appearance in the finale highlighted how upset he was to hear that he had been framed. Thus, even though Monty is dead, Winston could end up clearing his name if he speaks up - the only question is: Will he?
