13 Things Non-Fans Always Get Wrong About Doctor Who

6. Doctor Who Is That Guy With A Pinstripe Suit And Trainers

Yes, The Doctor did once wear a pinstripe suit and trainers €“ top marks for observation! But since 2005 there have actually been three Doctors to headline the revived series and next week the fourth will make his debut in this year's Christmas special. So a word to the wise: David Tennant hasn't been the only one. Doctor Who fans tend to get a bit precious about these things and the situation could get particularly awkward if you're speaking to one who doesn't rank David Tennant as their favourite Doctor. As strange as it might seem, some Doctor Who fans do actually fall into that category. He might've had the most episodes of the new series Doctors, but not by much: Eccleston - 13 episodes Tennant - 47 episodes Smith - 44 episodes Pipping Matt Smith at the post by only three episodes, Tennant's slim lead shouldn't justify his portrayal of the character being so readily recalled as "Doctor Who", by so many and so frequently, above and beyond anyone else. But, for some reason it seems to... and they do... and it is. Justify it and recall it and extremely frequent, I mean. It's really all just a little bit baffling.

I'm just a guy who loves words. I discover vast tracts of uncharted enjoyment by chucking words together and coming up with stuff that talks about the things I enjoy and love most. I'm also a massive listaholic, so I'm probably talking about a list, looking at a list or banging away at another What Culture list as you read this. My tone's pretty relaxed and conversational, with a liberal sprinkling of sparkling wit, wilting sarcasm and occasional faux-condescension - with tongue almost always firmly planted in cheek.
