9. Family Guy - Brian & Stewie In The Carpet

BoJack Horseman Don't Stop Dancing
20th Century Fox

Brian and Stewie stories are often the very best Family Guy episodes; it’s no accident that the 100th show was a solo outing for the pair of them. And in Season 17’s Big Trouble In Little Quahog is no exception. It’s easily the best offering of this decidedly average season, although more for the creative action sequences than the laughs themselves.

The episode revolves around Brian and Stewie being shrunk down and needing to survive the perils of their Spooner Street house. The show gets brilliantly inventive with what it puts the duo through. The vacuum, a flower, a snot blob... Family Guy throws it all at them.

As is typical for modern-day episodes, it’s hit and miss at times. Their drawn out discussion of trellises in 80s movies fails to strike a good note, and they inexplicably use it twice.

However, when we get them running around the carpet with the ecosystem in there, the show really shines. The perspective from so low down lets us see the house in a completely different light, giving a fresh feel to something so familiar. Just like American Dad!, Family Guy is often best when it takes its risks.
