15 Best TV Episodes Of 2018 (So Far)

7. Part One: The Heist - Evil Genius

Evil Genius
Netflix

Telling the incredible true story of the 'pizza bomber' case, Netflix's Evil Genius was at times captivating, at others overly convoluted in its four-episode run, and never managed to top its very first episode.

That's the one where the true insanity of its premise is laid out: Brian Wells, a 46-year-old pizza delivery guy, walks into a bank with a shotgun disguised as a cane and a bomb around his neck, and demands $250,000, with a note explaining the bomb will go off if the demand isn't met. After getting all the money available - only around $8000 - he goes outside and is quickly surrounded by police, where he explains he's being forced to do these things.

The story unfolds as part scavenger-hunt, part-documentary as the steps Wells had to go through are uncovered and a web is spun. It's enthralling viewing, including one moment so shocking you'll want to look away and find it impossible to do so, and while it lacks some nuance it makes up for it in sheer unbelievable craziness.
