7. We Are Lady Parts
Interestingly, We Are Lady Parts originally aired a pilot back in 2018, but didn't release a full season until May of this year. More than anything, this is a mighty shame, because it means it's been missing from our screens for over three years.
Created by Doctor Who alum Nida Manzoor, the adventurous sitcom follows a punk-rock band made up entirely of Muslim women as they navigate prejudice, friendship and creative differences on their long and winding road to fame.
Full to bursting with memorable songs and brought to life by its charming, multi-talented cast (led by Anjana Vasan, Sarah Impey, Juliette Motamed, Faith Omole and Lucie Shorthouse), We Are Lady Parts in held up by its riotous humour, touching drama, and progressive representations of Muslim women who practise their religion just as much as they love music, tattoos and smoking marijuana.
It's a great laugh which marries educational representation with a rollicking good story, and though there's no word on a season two renewal just yet, it's first season is enough for the show to be seen as a future classic.
