Based on the superhero comics by Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, Invincible is a violent, intelligent animated homage to superhero pop culture that follows in the footsteps of the equally daring drama The Boys.
With a cast made up of some serious A-listers and a packed line-up of current and former Walking Dead stars, the series follows young hero Mark Grayson (voiced by Steven Yeun) who teams up with his father (voiced by J. K. Simmons) to learn what it means to a world-renowned superhero.
At first something of a slow-burn tale about a hero coming into his powers, the show quickly takes a deep dive into surprisingly graphic violence and lofty themes of responsibility and identity.
Frequently unexpected and ridiculously entertaining, Invincible is made great by its striking animation, the perfect balance of spoof and originality it brings to the superhero subgenre, and its embarrassingly packed cast, which is rounded out by Sandra Oh, Gillian Jacobs, Seth Rogen, Walton Goggins, Ross Marquand, Zachary Quinto, Mark Hamill and too many more stars to count.
