15 Doctor Who Actors Who Died In 2021

3. John Challis

Though he's most famous for his role as Boycie in the legendary British sitcom Only Fools And Horses (and its spinoff, The Green Green Grass), John Challis is a name that Doctor Who fans will also remember with great fondness.

In 1976, Challis portrayed the henchman Scorby in the Fourth Doctor serial The Seeds Of Doom, bearing witness to some of Tom Baker's most genius improvisational moments during filming.

He also played Rosser - the fifth incarnation of the Time Lord Drax - in the 2016 Big Finish audio drama The Trouble With Drax, which reunited him with Baker.

He passed away on 19 September, at 79 years of age.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
