15 Great Sci-Fi Shows (Nobody Ever Talks About)
12. Day Break
Always underrated character actor extraordinaire Taye
Diggs stars in the lone season of this wildly underrated 2006 sci-fi thriller
series, a show whose ingenious premise made up for both its limited scope and
admittedly awful punning title.
A detective (Diggs, naturally) wakes up to find himself framed for the murder of a prominent attorney—and keeps doing so, trapped in a time loop until he can uncover the real murderer behind this frame up. It’s Groundhog Day as a murder mystery!
Only, you know, as a police procedural rather than the slasher comedy of say, Happy Death Day. Well worth a watch, this one deserved far better than a swift cancellation and being forgotten by most genre fans in short order.
