15 Greatest Comic Book Cartoons Of All Time

13. Spider-Man (1967)

Now regarded as a template for a popular meme, the original 60s Spider-man cartoon was the first ever animated debut of the wall-crawler, and it's unashamedly brilliant even decades later. Due to the small budget (or apparently, the complete lack thereof), the show constantly reused animation footage. Almost every single episode had the same recycled Spider-man web-slinging sequence, as well as Peter's quick costume transformation. Character movements were always kept to a minimum in the show, so everyone in the cartoon looked dreadfully static. Looking back on it now though, it's fairly evident that the show has aged fairly badly. However, that's sort of the appeal with the Spider-Man cartoon now. It has attained cult status amongst many people since its televised debut, and that is thanks to its wooden animation, recycled footage and unique 60s feel. It wasn't necessarily terrible back in the 60s though, as it was still appealing to kids. It even maintained the same style of the comic book of the same time, which at least says something. The 60s cartoon also birthed the popular theme song, which has become synonymous with the web-crawler, to such an extent that almost everyone knows it. It is without a doubt, one of the catchiest superhero tunes ever made.
