15 Greatest Episodes Of The Walking Dead
6. Here's Not Here (Season 6, Episode 4)
Here's Not Here is yet another example of just how compelling a character Morgan Jones can be. After the Wolves attack Alexandria, Morgan is forced to imprison ringleader Owen (Benedict Samuel), and in doing so the former father recounts his tale, from where fans last saw him in the episode Clear to now.
Whilst it ran the risk of falling a touch flat and feeling completely out of place with the rest of the season, the episode ends up being a slice of Walking Dead perfection.
The flashback tells of Morgan's desire to "clear" - to cleanse the world of walkers and anyone who gets in his way - and how his quest eventually saw him meet Eastman (John Carroll Lynch), a wise and peace loving guy who teaches Morgan that "all life is precious" and that killing someone is never the way.
It's a deep and compelling episode, full of big themes like morality and hope, and allows James to once more show how brilliant he is in the role when the script is working for him. Lynch too is a staggering presence, and despite this being his only appearance on the show, he completely steals the episode and offers audiences the show's most compelling and two-dimensional one-off character.
After so long between appearances, Here's Not Here is the perfect bottle episode needed to let fans know what happened to Morgan, and how he overcame his demons to find Rick once more.
