15 Important Life Lessons We Learned From South Park

7. €So Does Greatness

It€™s a classic storytelling technique of the unlikely hero and one the South Park guys fully endorse. It€™s a little fantasy in all of us to be destined for greatness and one that the Best Friends Forever episode has in spades. Basically, Kenny is Keanu Reeves. The PSP hits the stores and despite being in poverty, Kenny is the one kid on the block who€™s an expert in its best game. He dies, the world sheds a tear, and in heaven it turns out the game he was playing was a test to prove his greatness. Kenny has died in dozens of episodes before this one and this was the first since the South Park movie to show him dying with a great purpose, although back on Earth they do everything they can to pull him back in. It€™s a Skywalker trope that was used again for a later two-parter with Pandemic, where minor character Craig saves the world from monster Guinea Pigs. Even if we feel relatively ordinary, perhaps one day our talents will shine.
