Do we really need another take on Stephen King's Carrie? Likely not, but one reason to be excited by this new take on King's 1974 novel is the simple fact that Mike Flanagan is overseeing it.

Flanagan is obviously no stranger to Stephen King adaptations, having written and directed Gerald's Game, Doctor Sleep, and The Life of Chuck. On top of that, Flanagan has plenty of other horror credit in the bank thanks to The Haunting of Hill House, Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, The Midnight Club, The Fall of the House of Usher, Oculus, Hush, Absentia, Before I Wake, and the surprisingly good Ouija: Origin of Evil.

The point being, Mike Flanagan is one of the most influential, impressive names in the horror game these days. So, if anyone could muster up enthusiasm for a Carrie TV series, Flanagan is as good a bet as any.

Described as a "bold and timely reimagining of the story of misfit high-schooler Carrie White", this latest Carrie adaptation will see the troubled telekinetic teenager calling Amazon home, with the series expected to premiere before 2025 is out.
