Almost a decade after it was cancelled by The CW, the Gilmore Girls are getting a second life thanks to Netflix (and that's enough of a timespan and change from the original series for it to count as 'new').

The format will be markedly different, with it airing as a four-part event series consisting of 90-minute instalments, each based around a different season.

With Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel back as Lorelai and Rory, along with almost the entire supporting cast returning (sadly Edward Herrmann has passed away) and creator Amy Sherman-Palladino still in control behind-the-scenes, this should be a fast-talking, pop-culture reference-filled return to Stars Hollow, and answer a number of big questions fans have leftover, and finally provide a satisfactory end to the series.

Air Date: November 25.
