15 Star Trek LEGO Sets Everyone Wants

7. USS Discovery

The USS Discovery straddles two distinct time periods in Trek history. Firstly, there's the fully formed NCC-1031 from the 23rd Century. This might be more of a static build in terms of the ability to make the saucer spin, but given The Lego Group's ingenuity it shouldn't be put past them, To offer that feature this kit would need to be of a similar size to the Enterprise-D and even go as far as having the open shuttlebay to the rear offering internal depth to the model.

But it shouldn't stop there because this could easily be a kit with a set of modified instructions to build the 32nd Century NCC-1031-A. Providing different surface textures and panelling might be a challenge, but modifying the engines to be detached and making slight alterations to the hull are more than realistic. It could be that the engines could either be clipped to the hull or use the clear bricks to provide that 32nd Century visual upgrade.

The mini-figs might be uniform-locked to a time period here, and fans might desire the original uniforms over the later variants. A little Lorca is a must alongside a Burnham and a Saru.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
