15 Star Trek LEGO Sets Everyone Wants

6. Klingon Bird of Prey

Iconic and begging for the full Lego Group treatment, the Klingon vessel has at least three features which could be realised.

Presented as the HMS Bounty (optional name sticker included!), the Bird of Prey would need to be the same size as the Enterprise-D to fully articulate its splendour. The wings would need to fold from attack right up to landing, either via some form of internal cog system or ratchet bricks, and in turn that final position provides the chance to add in the seldom-used landing gear. No need for the stand to display her here since the Bird of Prey would be able to sit happily on any shelf and then deploy the rear ramp so that any occupants can complete their Voyage Home.

A neat little twist on this might be a light-up brick in the nose to represent the deadly forward-firing torpedo, or even to the rear on the main impulse engine. This would also provide a completely different colour palette to the Federation lead ships. The Bird Of Prey would also seem to be the antithesis to The Lego Group's choice to originally avoid greens and browns, as they were seen as militaristic colours. To be fair, that's exactly what suits this ship.

Keeping with that movie theme, the set would absolutely have to come with a casually dressed Kirk, Spock and company. Chekov's pageboy outfit is a must (editor's note: is it, though?), Spock has to have a headband, and it wouldn't go amiss to drop a Commander Kruge on here with a head mould different to the one sported by the Enterprise-D Worf.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
