15 TV Seasons That Are Totally Flawless

1. Twin Peaks - Season One

Laura Palmer Twin Peaks
ABC

That David Lynch is an artistic genius goes without saying, but he really outdid himself with Twin Peaks, the most daring and surreal drama on TV.

The show's first season - before its second instalment stretched things impossibly far and started to annoy fans - starts with the body of Laura Palmer being found on the outskirts of Twin Peaks, and proceeds to tell a long, winding story about her hidden past and the various locals hiding devastating secrets throughout town.

At the centre of the iconic mystery of Who Killed Laura Palmer?, there stands Kyle MacLachlan's eccentric FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper, who unearths a series of jarring truths about Laura's death, and the menace who continues to plague those around him.

A perfect blend of crime drama, murder mystery, surreal fantasy, horror and drama, Twin Peaks' first season gripped a whole generation of TV audiences, and between its memorable characters and deviously placed twists, it's pretty easy to see why.
