Creator Alan Moore will tell you that Watchmen cannot be adapted, and fans of Zack Snyder will tell you that it already has been, and brilliantly so. HBO and Damon Lindelof are aiming somewhere in between, with a new take on the seminal comic story that brings it back to the screen, but isn't a true adaptation.

Instead, Lindelof's TV show will be a continuation of Moore's story, taking place in the present day and focusing on a new band of superheroes, will showing how the world has changed since the days of the Watchmen, while Lindelof also added that it'll "revisit the past century of Costumed Adventuring through a surprising yet familiar set of eyes…and it is here we will be taking our greatest risks.”

The impressive cast includes Regina King, Don Johnson, and Jeremy Irons, and while Lindelof has been divisive through the likes of Lost and Prometheus, his work on The Leftovers should earn him some good faith on this one ahead of its 2019 debut.
