10. Death By Dalek, Part Two (The Parting Of The Ways)
Osgood's demise is NuWho's last recorded case of "companion tease", whereby a potential fellow traveller is introduced then cruelly despatched just as the viewer was getting to know them. The first example of such was "Lynda with a Y", played by Jo Joyner, in Russell T Davies' Series 1 climactic concluder The Parting of the Ways. The Ninth Doctor met her in the unlikely confines of a Big Brother studio in the far future, part of the Game Station that housed a dangerous array of quiz show-based massacres, notably a weaponized Anne Robinson. The chemistry between the lucky civilian and Christopher Eccleston's Time Lord was immediate. Unfortunately the Station had a Dalek force in charge, so Lynda's expiry brings the show's main enemy back onto the list. Alone and defenceless, she could only watch as a bonded polycarbide assassin hoved into view through the window. Shattering glass and the atmosphere rushing past her face were the last things she would experience. Game over indeed.
