The most charming and instantly noticeable aspect of Bill Burr's challenging animated sitcom is the sheer star power of its voice cast. Alongside Burr stands Oscar winners Laura Dern and Sam Rockwell, as well as the ever-dependable Justin Long and recurring stars such as Vince Vaughn, Jonathan Banks and Allison Janney.
But F Is For Family isn't just its cast. It's also not your not typical adult animation. Sure, it's crass and occasionally over-the-top (it's from the brilliant mind of Bill Burr, after all), but its biggest strength lies with its massive heart and surprising sensitivity.
Watching the Murphy clan navigate the ups and downs of their suburban lifestyle has offered up misadventures typical of the genre, but always grounds itself with excellent character development and timely, smartly observed comments about the American way of life in the 70s.
F Is For Family is always up for a good laugh, but often leaves you thinking, as all great shows should. The fifth and final season is set to air in 2022.
