20 Best Superman TV Episodes Of All Time

2. "Rosetta" - Smallville

Superman Lois Clark
Warner Bros.

Much like Smallville, the Christopher Reeve Superman films defined the Man of Steel for an entire generation of fans. Those fans will always think of the late Christopher Reeve when it comes to Superman, a fact which was exemplified perfectly by "Rosetta".

The season two episode features Clark learning the truth about his Kryptonian origins for the first time, as he finally learns words like "Krypton" and "Kal-El". It's a pivotal, emotional moment for Clark and the fact that it was delivered to him by Christopher Reeve makes it all the more special. It's as close to a passing of the torch as one could possibly get.

Reeve just inhabits the character of Dr. Virgil Swann, playing him as a kind, yet mysterious man who wants to protect Clark from those who might use his abilities for nefarious purposes. Reeve would make one more appearance, in Season 3's "Legacy", before his untimely death in 2004.
