20 Best TV Comedy Characters Of The 21st Century
11. Sterling Archer - Archer
No one expected Archer to last as long as it has, yet the hit show is heading into its eleventh season and showing no signs of slowing down. The filth filled spy show has managed to be consistently brilliant for over 100 episodes thanks to its fantastic cast and writing crew.
In recent seasons, the show has explored different angles for the team to follow. Starting with Archer: Vice in season five, the group have since been PI's and even joined up with the CIA. The decision to move away from the spy industry was polarising at first, but enabled the series to explore new situations before the original setting was played out.
As the lead character, Stirling Archer has a lot to live up to. Thankfully, he never falls short, even if his actions are somewhat questionable. Archer is a fantasy spy and really excels at his job, but his dependence on alcohol and ability to be easily distracted by women constantly get the better of him.
Despite the playboy attitude, deep down Archer is just a mother's boy. Even at his age, he is still completely under her thumb. I mean why else would you put up with all Mallory's crazy schemes?
