20 Best TV Shows Of 2015

6. Jessica Jones

Marvel's best screen offering of 2015? Sorry Daredevil, but that honour goes to the series that came next in the Netflix/Marvel deal: Jessica Jones. It followed down the path laid out by Daredevil, but whereas that show may have still had some rough edges, this perfected the model. It was a more intimate story, focusing on the much more personal relationship between Jessica and Kilgrave, and was also far sexier than anything we're used to seeing on screen from Marvel. It also superbly tackled some very big themes (helped by having a female showrunner in Melissa Rosenberg), such as rape, abortion, child abuse, and PTSD. Just attempting to talk about those issues is admirable, but successfully doing so, while in a show that's exciting and also - at times - really funny is a fantastic achievement. David Tennant has deservedly won a lot of plaudits for his role as the villainous Kilgrave, a very powerful, dark, and twisted character that he absolutely nails. But it's Krysten Ritter's show, and whether it's fighting Kilgrave, cracking some inappropriate joke to Trish, or suffering under the weight of all the trauma she has been through, she carries this whole series.
