A recent triumph for HBO, the crime drama Mare of Easttown follows Kate Winslet's haunted detective Mare Sheehan as she grapples with personal tragedy amidst the most maddening murder case of her career.
The central mystery drives the series forward with intense unpredictability, but it's Winslet's portrayal of a police veteran battling her demons that makes Mare of Easttown a truly great show. She may have an Oscar to her name and be best known for her movie work, but this is Winslet's finest performance.
