8. The Gilded Age
Created by Downton Abbey's Julian Fellowes, The Gilded Age tells the story of a high class feud during the booming years of 1880s New York, and does so with one of the best ensembles in recent memory.
With the likes of Carrie Coon, Taissa Farmiga, Christine Baranski, and Cynthia Nixon working some of their best magic, the first season of The Gilded Age has made for a tense spectacle of conspiracy and intrigue, but also a gorgeous period piece that speaks volumes about a time and place rarely portrayed on-screen.
Beautifully designed and meticulously plotted, The Gilded Age is sure to get even better with time, and given its strengths could run for many more years to come. Provided it reaches a larger audience with its second season, of course, and doesn't somehow drop the ball.
