14. Tim & Eric€™s Bedtime Stories

What it's about: Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim are not only two of the greatest comedic minds of our generation, but also two of the most depraved. Their previous Adult Swim shows Tom Goes To The Mayor, Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! and Check It Out! With Dr Steve Brule all walked the line between surreal humour and genuinely disturbing content (check out the Lazy Horse Mattress ad, starring Nebraska's Will Forte, and try not to have nightmares for weeks after), and it looks like they're going to be stumbling across both sides of that divide with their new series Bedtime Stories, a darkly comedic take on anthology horror shows like Tales From The Crypt and Are You Afraid Of The Dark? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFX5FXTCyMs Why it looks good: Well, because it's more Tim & Eric, for one thing. We'll watch pretty much anything they do, either alone or together, including the much-misunderstood Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie (which is nonetheless getting a sequel called, of course, Tim and Eric's Trillion Dollar Movie). Heidecker's last project, indie drama The Comedy, plumbed some darker depths than ever before, which we're hoping to see more of here. Plus some jokes. Jokes would be good. We're pretty much guaranteed both of those things, thanks to a higher budget than the pair have previously had to play with, alongside a chorus line of guest stars like Bob Odenkirk from Breaking Bad, Zach Galifianakis, and Community's Gillian Jacobs. The fifteen minute run times and third-act twists of each episode sound perfect for some unhinged, lunatic horror-comedy, too.
