15. Buffy The Vampire Slayer - Season 5 Finale (The Gift)
Joss Whedon is an evil man, responsible for countless heartbreaking deaths, from Tara to Fred to Wash. He even killed off his leading lady twice during the seven-year run of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Buffy's death in season one's Prophecy Girl was a little gimmicky and she was alive again by the end credits. But season five's The Gift was a much more heartbreaking affair as Buffy sacrificed herself by leaping to her death. She closed the portals to the other demon dimensions but it was at the cost of the slayer's life. As season five ended, Buffy was properly dead. There was even a grave stone to prove it. The end of The Gift - the show's 100th episode - was a brutal affair that left audiences wondering how the show could possibly return without her. Of course some serious dark magic was the key but as a cliffhanger, the death of Buffy was one of the most dramatic season endings Whedon ever did. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UrNHP-946Q
