1. Not To Mention All The Spin-Offs And Parent Shows...
It would be remiss of us if we didn't acknowledge all the shows that are officially connected to Doctor Who and the others listed in this article. Weve already mentioned Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures. Given the connections to Star Trek and Star Trek: The Next Generation there is also Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Enterprise to consider (as well as the new rebooted film series). Angel came from Buffy The Vampire Slayer. The Alien franchise has ties to the Predator franchise. Battlestar Galactica was followed up by short-lived prequel series Caprica. That brings the grand total to 22 TV shows and 2 film franchises. Doctor Who started in 1963 but the universe really began back a whole decade earlier with The Quatermass Experiment and has been on our screens for a whole 60 years, even when Doctor Who itself was in its off-air limbo. With season eight (or 34) hitting our screens later this month, now is your chance to expand your viewing experience. Consider your minds suitably blown
A writer for Whatculture since May 2013, I also write for TheRichest.com and am the TV editor and writer for Thedigitalfix.com . I wrote two plays for the Greater Manchester Horror Fringe in 2013, the first an adaption of Simon Clark's 'Swallowing A Dirty Seed' and my own original sci-fi horror play 'Centurion', which had an 8/10* review from Starburst magazine! (http://www.starburstmagazine.com/reviews/eventsupcoming-genre-events/6960-event-review-centurion) I also wrote an episode for online comedy series Supermarket Matters in 2012. I aim to achieve my goal for writing for television (and get my novels published) but in the meantime I'll continue to write about those TV shows I love!
