22 TV Shows You Didn't Know Were In The Doctor Who Universe
Klingons, Daleks, Reavers and Cylons. Has the Doctor encountered them all?
Recently we ran an article looking at 19 TV shows and 1 film set in the same universe as Lost. From The X Files to Fringe to Luther, connections were uncovered that proved the fate of the island was just part of a much wider story. That got us thinking, what other TV universes exist out there? What shows share the same settings or narrative threads that connect them to a bigger world? Last time we focused on Lost and, for the most part, the history of Oceanic Airlines. This time, our focus is on Doctor Who and all the TV shows that inhabit its universe. For the purposes of this article, we won't discuss Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures. These are both official spin offs, though they do bring the TV show count up to three. There is failed spin off K9 And Company and animated series Dreamland but the first never got past its pilot episode and the second was an tenth Doctor story, so they don't really count. We'll also treat the show 'Doctor Who' as starting in 1963 and still running. Unlike IMDB, we don't need to distinguish between Classic, Nu Who and Paul McGann's 1996 TV movie. They're all one show from our perspective. Besides, there are quite a few shows out there that share a connection with Doctor Who, Another 20 TV shows and two film franchises for that matter. Don't believe us? Some of these shows will be more obvious, but some might blow your mind. Click 'NEXT' to uncover the first that we will explore over nine pages...
