Played By - Albert Hall, Episode - Day 3: 1.00am-2.00am Season 3 of 24 sees President David Palmer beginning to seek re-election, though a scandal involving his girlfriend Anne Packard and terrorist actions complicate matters. Adding to his complications is Alan Milliken, one of his biggest financial supporters, who demands that Palmer fire his Chief of Staff and brother Wayne, who had an affair with the wheelchair-bound Milliken's wife, Julia. Palmer refuses, and begins to see support for one of his bills dwindle as Senators loyal to Milliken pull their endorsements. This prompts him to seek the assistance of his ex-wife, Sherry, who eventually visits the Milliken household. There, Alan is verbally berated after a confrontation, and begins to experience the symptoms of a heart attack. Sherry coldly looks on, refusing to provide him with his medication and persuading Julia not to help him either as he collapses dead in front of them, something that is later an influencing factor in Julia's murder of Sherry and subsequent suicide.
19. Carl Benton
Played By - Robert Carlyle, Episode - Redemption Written as a prequel to season seven, 24: Redemption sees Jack Bauer avoiding a federal subpoena by visiting a former colleague, Carl Benton, in the African nation of Zangala. Here, Carl runs an school, which becomes a target (as a source of child soldiers) when the country becomes the subject of a coup d'état. The two flee with a group of boys from the school, one of whom nearly steps on a land mine until Carl steps on it himself to save him. Knowing that time is a luxury they don't have, he demands that Jack take the boys to safety even though he is capable of disarming the mine, which he reluctantly does. Pursuing forces soon catch up to Carl's location, which then prompts him to go out with a bang, literally, as he activates the mine, blowing up himself and several of his adversaries as he becomes the latest entry in the long list of Jack Bauer's fallen comrades.
