Kenneth Ives was born in March 1934, and appeared in the Second Doctor serial The Dominators as Probationer Toba, the violent second-in-command of the expedition to Dulkis. He ran afoul of both his commander, Rago, and the Doctor, the latter of whom smuggled a primed Dominator bomb aboard Toba's ship, killing the man.

In 1972, Ives moved to a career primarily behind the camera. He was a director on All Creatures Great And Small, which featured future Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison. He would however act in the series 1990, in which he appeared alongside Donald Gee.

Ives moved to directing in theatre, where he took the reigns on several of Harold Pinter's plays in the 80s.

He died on 6th March. He was 87 years old.
