Doctor Who Peter Bowles

Peter Bowles was born in October 1936 and appeared in The Sarah Jane Adventures. He played Lionel Carson, an old friend of Sarah-Jane's, in the story The Man Who Never Was. He had once been Sarah-Jane's editor, and though he harboured romantic feelings for her, they never pursued anything more than a platonic relationship. He helps Clyde and Rani save the day, and all he had to do was break a pen!

Bowles trained at RADA, then enjoyed a residency at the Bristol Old Vic. He would act in many productions through the years, though it was his role as Richard DeVere in To The Manor Born, or perhaps as Geoffrey Palmer's replacement as Donald Fairchild in Executive Stress, that he best be known.

He would enjoy a long career acting on stage, though he was quoted as believing that the big productions often fell under the big directors, and never fell too close to him. He would appear alongside Jenna Coleman in Victoria, as the Duke of Wellington.

Bowles died on March 17th. He was 85 years old.
