Sonny Caldinez was born in July 1932. He appeared several times in Doctor Who, often as an Ice Man. He was in the Second Doctor serials The Evil Of The Daleks, The Ice Warriors, The Seeds Of Death, and the Third Doctor serials The Curse Of Peladon, and the Monster Of Peladon.

Before going into acting, the six-foot-four-and-a-half Caldinez began his career as a professional wrestler. From here, he would go on to appear in two other huge franchises. First, he appeared as Kra, Scaramanga's technician, in the James Bond film The Man With The Golden Gun. Later, he would appear as an evil henchman in Raiders Of The Lost Ark. He would also have a small role in Luc Besson's The Fifth Element.

Caldinez passed away on April 12th. He was 89 years old.
