28 Doctor Who Actors Who Died In 2022
23. John Livesey
John Livesey began his career in 1969, appearing in the Second Doctor serial The War Games. He played a German Soldier who had been kidnapped by the War Lords. Convinced that he was still fighting in the First World War, he and another unnamed soldier captured Jennifer Buckingham's ambulance, with the Doctor, Jamie, and Zoe inside.
The ambulance was quickly retaken, and Livesey's character was captured. This proved fortuitous, as he ended up surviving the events of the War Games, and was returned to his time and place by the Time Lords.
Livesey would go on to appear in several other productions, including Threads, the terrifying story about a nuclear attack on England. Outside of television, Livesey was an actor of the BBC's Repository Company's core cast. In 1981, he performed in a radio adaptation of The Lord Of The Rings, wherein he played Otho Sackville-Baggins, Éothain, and a couple of other small roles.
He was also recognizable for his appearances in Ivanhoe and Special Branch, in the late 60s and early 70s.
